CECaBI research ethics and participants’ protection workshop
From 10 to 13 January 2022, the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques (CSRS) conducted a training workshop in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire. The workshop focused on the general guiding principles and rules of ethics in research and the protection of participants in research activities. It is part of work package 5 of the Côte d’Ivoire Ethics Capacity Building Initiative (CECaBI) project launched in September 2021.
Felix Tobin, project manager of CECaBI, provided an introduction to the project, followed by eight technical presentations delivered by Prof. Benjamin Koudou (Director for Research) and Dr Constant Edi of CSRS Côte d’Ivoire. Participating faculty members, researchers and scholars from several fields actively participated in discussions and case studies, showing a keen interest and deep ownership of ethics concerns. They expressed their desire to participate in the project.
While this workshop was targeted at experts from Bouaké and Korhogo, CSRS announced that the next workshop scheduled in February 2022 will target researchers based in and around Abidjan.
