Africa Office – Objectives

In 2022, the EDCTP Africa Office received a grant from the Global Health EDCTP3 programme to support the operation of the Africa Office to ensure optimal implementation and visibility of the GH EDCTP3 programme in sub-Saharan Africa. This overall aim will be achieved through the following specific objectives:

Providing technical support for the design and implementation of the Global Health EDCTP3 activities concerning networking and capacity development (research infrastructure, training and mentorship on clinical research, and regulatory and ethical issues) in sub-Saharan Africa.

Promoting international networking activities (South-North, South-South) that will foster the exchange of knowledge and expertise in sub-Saharan Africa.

Ensuring close alignment of the activities funded through the Global Health EDCTP3 with the African regional and national research and innovation and capacity development strategies and plans.

Strengthening strategic bilateral and multilateral partnerships in sub-Saharan Africa with regional and sub-regional governmental and non-governmental organisations, industry, philanthropic foundations, government donor agencies and institutions working within science and innovation to speed up the research and innovation process in sub-Saharan Africa.

Increasing visibility of Global Health EDCTP3 in Africa by contributing to its communication and outreach activities on its achievements.
