The Eastern Africa Consortium for Clinical Research (EACCR3) held its third General Assembly and scientific meeting (hybrid) in Arusha, Tanzania on 10-11 August 2022. The aim of EACCR3 is to strengthen the capacity to conduct internationally acceptable health research with specific focus on clinical trials on poverty-related diseases (HIV, TB, Malaria) and neglected infectious emerging and re-emerging diseases. Two guest speakers were invited to the annual meeting: Dr Isack Lekule from the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in Tanzania, who gave a keynote address on status and treatment for MDR-TB in Tanzania, and Prof. Gibson Kibiki from the Africa Research Excellence Fund (AREF), who spoke about capacity building for clinical research in Africa. The annual meeting also served as a scientific meeting for the PhD and MSc students supported by EACCR3, to present their research concepts and progress with their research work.
