We are looking for a Legal Officer to be based at the EDCTP office in The Hague. The Legal Officer will provide legal support to the Secretariat in the implementation of EDCTP programmes, including giving advice to EDCTP management and staff on all legal matters, and drafting grant agreements and service provider contracts.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Reviewing and drafting grant agreements, service provider contracts and amendments to grant agreements, and to ensure that they are in compliance with European Union Horizon 2020 Guidelines, the Dutch law, EDCTP financial guidelines, SOPs and ICH GCP Guidelines
  • Acting as the focal point for all litigation matters and liaising with and managing relationships with external lawyers including dealing with litigation where necessary
  • Working with staff and management to respond to correspondence regarding EDCTP contract terms and conditions
  • Reviewing all contracts or any other documentation, and assessing legal implications that need to be brought to the attention of management and staff
  • Providing advice to EDCTP management and staff on all legal matters related to intellectual property rights, human resources and interpretation of legal terms
  • Liaising with all departments to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action are taken to eliminate or mitigate these risks. This will include advising management on the appropriate courses of action to take in all legal related cases
  • Ensuring relevant legal requirements are disseminated to the appropriate staff
  • Providing legal support in the implementation of EDCTP programmes under the relevant funding frameworks: FP6; Coordination and Support Action Grant, FP7; and EDCTP2, Horizon 2020 (H2020) Rules for Participation
  • Ensuring Staff Regulations are in compliance with Dutch labour laws
  • Any other tasks, duties or specific assignments which may arise as directed by the Executive Director.

 

Person specification

  • Qualified lawyer
  • 5 years professional experience
  • Knowledge of Dutch law, including labour laws would be an advantage
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience in all legal aspects of grant management would be an advantage.

 

Salary scale

EDCTP offers a competitive salary package commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Employment conditions
The employee will based at the EDCTP Secretariat in The Hague, Netherlands. Applicants must have a valid working permit in The Netherlands.
