Vaccines are an essential element in control and elimination programmes for poverty-related diseases. However, few vaccines have been developed for controlling poverty-related diseases. In recent years, several candidate vaccines against these diseases have entered clinical development. There is an urgent need to fast-track their development.
Since 2014, EDCTP has invested a total of €243.05 million to support 26 collaborative clinical research projects for the clinical development of new vaccines. Our aim is to increase the number of promising vaccines targeted for use in Africa.
