Interview with Dr Thomas Nyirenda: Africa Needs to Strengthen Disease Surveillance and Innovation to Address Re-emerging Infectious Diseases
Dr Thomas Nyirenda, EDCTP Strategic Partnerships & Capacity Development Manager and Head of Africa Office, was interviewed by HealthTimes. He shared his views on Africa’s need to improve surveillance, strategic innovations and collaborations and said that “while attention should be given to novel and emerging infectious diseases, Africa should not ignore existing infections, whose burden is already weighing down the continent’s capacity to deal with diseases”.
