Financial and project management training in Dakar, Senegal

From 25-26 November 2024, the EDCTP Association in collaboration with the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking (JU) held a two-day financial and project management training in Dakar, Senegal, for Global Health EDCTP3 grant holders. Mr Abdoulie Barry, Acting Executive Director of the EDCTP Association, provided training in financial management of Global Health EDCTP3/Horizon Europe grants, and Dr Pauline Beattie, Operations Manager and Scientific Adviser of the EDCTP Association, provided training in project management. Ms Aleksandra Conversano, Scientific Project Officer, and Mr Vincent Declerfayt, Head of Administration and Finance, Global Health EDCTP3 JU, took part in the workshop and provided an information session on the Global Health EDCTP3 programme. The training was attended by 28 researchers, project and financial managers, from 9 West and Central African countries. In addition, 25 people participated online. The Global Health EDCTP3 workshop was preceded by a refresher training for EDCTP2 grant holders on 24 September 2024. The EDCTP3 workshop was funded by the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking and its members through the EDCTP Africa Office grant (ID: 101103640).

The team also visited the Alliance for International Medical Action (ALIMA), which is working on the Global Health EDCTP3-funded projects EBO-PEP and INTEGRATE. This was followed by a visit to the Institut de Recherche en Santé de Surveillance Epidémiologique et de Formation (IRESSEF), which leads the EDCTP Regional Network of Excellence WANETAM.
