We are pleased to welcome Namibia as the newest member country of the EDCTP Association, bringing the total number of African countries to 30. Namibia formalised its commitment to the EDCTP Association for participation in the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking, with its admittance approved by the General Assembly of the EDCTP Association on 27 November 2024.

Namibia will be represented in the General Assembly by Dr Hilma Nangombe, Head of Research Division, Ministry of Health and Social Services and Dr Jacob Sheehama, Deputy Director, Academic Affairs and Research, University of Namibia.

The EDCTP Association is the legal structure for the implementation of the second EDCTP programme (EDCTP2, 2014-2024) and is a partner with the European Union in the Governing Board of the Global Heath EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking, which is the legal structure implementing the third EDCTP programme (Global Health EDCTP3, 2021-2031). The EDCTP Association is governed by its General Assembly, in which Members (Participating States), Aspirant Members and Observers are represented (see the Articles of Association for more information on full and aspirant membership). EDCTP2 is supported under Horizon 2020, the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
