Are residents of a sub-Saharan African country, or an EU Member State or a country associated with the Horizon 2020 programme
Have made significant achievements in their scientific field and will continue to develop as leaders in their research field
In addition to their scientific excellence, have made major contributions to the objectives of the EDCTP2 programme through strengthening research capacity in sub-Saharan Africa and supporting South-South and North-South networking.
The Scientific Leadership Prize consists of a recognition trophy and a cash prize of €10,000.
The cash prize should be used to further the research programme of the winner and may support activities such as supporting study visits and training attachments to collaborating institutions, data collection for baseline studies, conference and meeting attendance, and other relevant research-related activities.
Applications must be readable, accessible and printable. Incomplete applications may be considered inadmissible if essential elements are missing.
Prize winners will be notified in advance of the Eleventh EDCTP Forum.
Exclusions
Contestants nominated for this prize should not exceed 50 years of age, at the time of the launch of the contest.
Nomination of contestants who are currently employees of the EDCTP Association or serving on one of the EDCTP Association advisory committees (Scientific Advisory Committee or Audit Committee) or governing bodies (General Assembly and Board) will not be permitted.
Contestants who have already received an EDCTP2 prize before cannot receive a second prize for the same activities.
