EDCTP2 Prizes 2023 – Contest information Dr Pascoal Mocumbi Prize

This prize recognises the significant contribution made by Dr Pascoal Mocumbi, the first High Representative of the EDCTP Association. It is open to women and men worldwide who are senior scientists, policymakers or advocates for health and research and who have made unique contributions and significant achievements in

  • Promoting Africa-Europe partnerships in global health research
  • Promoting and facilitating the clinical development of products for poverty-related diseases
  • Advancing capacity development for health research in sub-Saharan Africa
  • Developing and promoting international networking and cooperation of researchers, policymakers, funders and donors on poverty-related diseases.

There is no age restriction for this prize.

The Dr Pascoal Mocumbi Prize consists of a recognition trophy and a cash prize of €50,000.

The prize rewards the achievements made and should also be used to publicise and raise awareness about the prize winner, their specific achievements, and the EDCTP2 programme.

Nominations procedure

Deadline is 17:00 CEST on Friday 16 June 2023.

Nominations must be submitted using the application form to prizes@edctp.org

Applications must be readable, accessible and printable. Incomplete applications may be considered inadmissible if essential elements are missing.

Prize winners will be notified in advance of the Eleventh EDCTP Forum

Exclusions

  • Nomination of contestants who are currently employees of the EDCTP Association or serving on one of the EDCTP Association advisory (Scientific Advisory Committee) or governing (General Assembly and Board) bodies will not be permitted.

Contestants who have already received an EDCTP2 prize before cannot receive a second prize for the same activities.
